today's plan: bike to st johns and eat at the john street cafe, then bike to pier park and play disc golf.
good plan. a beautiful day for it too!!!
i met jason & elvira at their house, then we biked to tori's.
we biked along willamette blvd, which is fun because i don't live there and never get to see the city from that angle. it was a beautiful (albeit crisp) morning!
breakfast was super yummy! i had a bacon, avocado, mozzarella and bleu cheese omlet. and since i couldn't eat the bread, i got orange slices, which was super refreshing for some reason.
then it was off to pier park... just another 10 minute ride or so.
we played a full round of disc golf.
jason and tori had some serious drives.
elvira and i were worn out by hole 12 because we did twice as much walking to chase our discs all over the forest.
here we are arriving at the park and getting our bikes locked up.

see how we started in coats and gloves??? it finally warmed up around noon and we started peeling off layers.

here's tori's power drive pull.

and here's jason before he adopted his "from-the-back" overhand technique, which actually had so much hang time in the air we decided that if he could get it level it would go twice as far.

and then elvira and i with our earnest attempts. sometimes our discs went where we wanted them to...

and here's me attempting to finish the "bonus hole".... tori claims there is actually a 19th hole at the park, called the bonus hole. elvira and i think it's really just the practice basket near the start. we played it out anyway. well, jason and i gave up but i think tori played it out.
we all just thought the term bonus hole was comical.

and of course, we found some cute purple flowers in the field and saw many birds along the way. we saw juncos, a red-tailed hawk and some other hawk being attacked by a crow on our ride. plus we heard a ton of other birds in the course as we walked around.

and then on our ride home we could see all the mountains! Hood, Helens and Adams.
Very cool....

a good day, but i think i may have gotten some sun.
3 woo hoo's!:
when i hatched this plan we were going to see what the wait was like at the more upscale John Street Cafe and if it was too long we were going to eat at Pattie's - which, after reading the write up in "Breakfast in Bridgetown", I do want to check out someday - sounds like a real dive with some serious local color and characters!
God bless Chrissy!!! I'd never see any pix of Jase + Elv if you didn't take and post them. disc golf sounds awesome!
A great post full of fun. Looking forward to the day you all get to Patties. Happy summering!!
