the little tree.

i haven't had a place where i could have my own christmas tree in over 5 years... but this year i could pull it off.

i was so excited to be in sandy, oregon a couple weeks ago and have a chance to stop at a u-cut tree farm and pick one out. it's so cute... just about as tall as me and the perfect shape. not too perfect, just perfect enough.

but on the way home i realized i had nothing to put on my little tree. no lights. no ornaments. no garland. nothing.

my boss was great, and drove me immediately to her house where i picked out lights from a box of leftovers from her daughter's wedding. so then it was colored and adorable, but with no character.

i was over at a friend's house to babysit and mentioned that my tree had no ornaments, and the boy i was babysitting immediately went to his tree and pulled off one of many he had made a couple days before.

that got me thinking... i wonder if there are other kids who would want to don teacher chrissy's tree...???? i sent an email, and sure enough, people responded immediately.

here's how we're doing so far...

this is from kaz... he gave the original ornament. i especially like the bulging red eyes. (so did he)

one from colin and ciara! i babysat for them last night and we all sat and made ornaments together for an hour and a half!this one is izzy's... she was exhibiting last weekend at crafty wonderland... an amazing portland craft bazaar.
this was was from milla... more to come from her... she and her sister gave me more tonight that i left at their house. i'll get them tomorrow!
one from lucy! thanks lucy! i like all the festive exclamation points!
here's one chosen by emmy... more to come from her as well when i get the ones i forgot.
the whole kraus family gave me oodles of IKEA ornaments they weren't using anymore. oddly enough, i went to IKEA last week specifically to get these type of straw ornaments, and we found nary a one. and then delia says, "i have this whole box of them you can have... we were going to donate them. i'll donate them to YOU!" weird how the world works sometimes.
another kraus ornament!
emmy made me this one at crafty wonderland!

and guess what? i LOVE making ornaments too. when i was babysitting last night we had an ornament extravaganza! i made a few myself and think they're pretty cute!and i know there's at least 6 or 8 more to come! as they arrive i will add them to the blog!!!

and if your child is jealous and wants to fashion an ornament for teacher chrissy's tree.... go to it! let me know when it's done and we can find a time to drop it off! i'm in town through dec 20th!

0 woo hoo's!:
